Jean-Philippe Luckhurst-Cartier: Little Empty Scenes

Painting

September 8th – October 14th 2017

Created as negatives of a contextual practice where places become materials of the artwork, the spaces painted by Jean-Philippe Luckhurst-Cartier are invented from scratch (or almost). They open the canvas space in little scenes ready to be investigated by the visitor’s gaze. This one is invited to become the spectator of a theatre which has never been and will never take place. The absence of a spectacle is rather a place for the plastic material of the acrylic and prefers a context of contemplative abnegation.
