Jan has traveled to 32 countries and lived in four (South Africa, Mexico, the US, and Canada). She draws inspiration from the eclectic experiences of a life spent largely on the road as well as from the culture of scientific inquiry that characterized her upbringing.<\/p>\n<p>Recent \u00a0exhibitions include <em>Futur Folklore<\/em> at the M.A.I. (Montr\u00e9al), <em>After the Hunt\u00a0<\/em>at Articite,\u00a0Windsor,\u00a0<em>You Maniacs You Blew It Up!<\/em> at PDA Projects (Ottawa), and <em>falling through the mirror<\/em> at Latitude 53 (Edmonton) and the FoFA Gallery (Montr\u00e9al). She is a M.A.I. Mentorship Grant awardee for 2014-2015 and a Clipperton Project residency awardee for 2015. In 2011, she was recognized with an award at the 6th International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art (WTA \u2013 Aire).<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming projects include exhibitions at Union Gallery (Kingston); Harcourt House (Edmonton), Hamilton Artists Inc (Hamilton); and the 2016 Fiberarts International Biennial (USA &amp; touring); and residencies at Denali National Park and the Elsewhere Museum.
