GALLERY CLOSED (COVID-19) – INSTAGRAM PRESENTATION OCTOBER 13TH – 16TH, 2020

In order to satisfy the requirements of the Master’s program, Mancy Rezaei’s thesis exhibition will take place as planned even though the gallery is temporarily closed to the public. Being aware that a virtual presentation does not replace an exposition, but nevertheless wanting to promote the artist’s work, Skol presents an artist presentation on Instagram. Follow us!

Project description

Mancy Rezaei’s work focuses on an identity research in relation to Persian material culture. She explores her souvenirs of architectural spaces adorned with decorative motifs from a tradition that has been perpetuated for four centuries. In her practice, she gives significant importance to the architectural heritage of both the pre-Islamic and Islamic periods. She is interested in the relationship between human beings and the built environment, between society and its constructed spaces, which she perceives as an unfinished story in perpetual renewal.

Through drawing, photography, video and mural painting, she creates a dialogue between Montreal’s mnemonic imaginary space and the material culture of Iran.
