Final reading session May 7th at Librairie Gallimard.

Project Description

Artist Sophie Castonguay takes up residence at Vidéographe for a group reading and discussion of Voir ensemble autour de Jean Toussaint Desanti. This text revisits the lecture “Voir ensemble” given by philosopher Jean-Toussaint Desanti at the École des Beaux-Arts, six months before his disappearance.

The work of philosopher Marie-José Mondzain, Voir ensemble autour de Jean Toussaint Desanti is a book that brings together diverse personalities from the world of creation and thinking (filmmakers Benoît Jacquot, Nicolas Philibert, Olivier Assayas and Jean-Louis Comolli, theatre workers Alain Françon and Robert Cantarella, artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest, philosophers Myriam Revault d’Allonnes and Patrice Loraux, haptonomic doctor Catherine Dolto, and critic Jean-Michel Frodon). It is not by chance that Castonguay has chosen this book. It goes without saying that reading this work aloud, in a group, will allow for experimentation with the very idea of “seeing together” as part of a reading group, a mise en abyme of Dessanti’s reflection on the notion of community. From the artificial sentiment constructed around “us,” to the construction of an “other space” by the artist, Castonguay will offer an exercise in performative and polyphonic reading.

Event is free of charge. No reservations necessary.
