NUIT BLANCHE AT SKOL : BIO/HASARD

Nuit blanche at Skol : BIO/HASARD

Exhibitions, family activity and distortion/karaoke

Saturday, February 29th, 2020

As part of the Nuit blanche, Skol presents two exhibitions and organizes a headgear workshop and a distortion karaoke. The gallery and the bar will be open until 1 am to welcome the general public in a festive atmosphere!

5pm — 9pm: Mutant headgear workshop

Firstly, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., there will be a family activity to create mutant headgear which will be divided into two two-hour time slots. Two animators from the artistic community of Skol will welcome groups of ten children (5 years and over, accompaniment by an adult). From pre-made cardboard bases, participants will be invited to make an bio/hasard headgear. Material is provided on arrival.

5pm — 7pm first group

7pm — 9pm second group

To ensure a good accessibility of material and images, please send an e-mail with your name, the number of participants and the desired time slot of participation at : skol@skol.ca (before February 27) .

9pm — 1am: Distortion/karaoke

Then, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., the gallery will hold a Distortion/karaoke evening hosted by two members of the Skol, Ileana Hernandez Camacho and Julie Bruneau. The two masters of ceremony (MC) will plunge you into a sci-fi universe by reclaiming the traditional codes of karaoke; with video projections and, of course, performances of amateur songs. Thus, the public is invited to live a new experience of karaoke by interpreting the musical piece of their choice according to a variety of sound mutations. These hazardous experiments pushing the biological limits of the voice will be possible thanks to a device of distortion pedals, allowing, for example, to sing in a robotic or extraterrestrial way, with reverberation and repetition, or in an acute or grave way.

5pm — 1am: Exhibitions, closing event and mediation

Throughout the evening, we present two exhibitions:

In the main gallery, It’s absurd so you have to believe it by the artist Aïda Vosoughi.

In the galerie passage des membres, we will have the closing event of Vanitas vanitas by the artist Félipe Goulet Letarte. The artist will be present in the gallery, to discuss and answer your questions.

** The term biohazard (☣) echoes the impact of hazardous materials on the environment and on living things.
