Underground queer screenings with Pierre Beaudoin

A series of underground queer screenings curated by Pierre Beaudoin.
Launch: The first screening will take place on Wednesday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at SKOL. Free admission, no reservation required.
Through these screening evenings, I aim to share a selection from my personal archives that would otherwise not be shown publicly. I am particularly interested in independent and low-budget productions. I favor stories set in very intimate environments, often in rural settings where a slow pace prevails. With this in mind, I have selected certain films that echo the themes of two of the exhibitions presented at SKOL in 2026: Being a Queer Artist, Living in the Regions and LGBTQIA+ Emerging Artists and Nature. They offer an alternative perspective on the fringes of queer communities.
For this first screening, I will present a 90-minute Chilean feature film from 2019 with English subtitles.
It tells the story of Lucas, who visits his sister Catalina in a town in southern Chile before heading to Montreal, where he has received a scholarship to study architecture. During his stay, he falls in love with Antonio, a fisherman who occasionally performs in historical reenactments of the capture of Valdivia.
This film pays homage to nature and the fishing trade. It is punctuated by long static shots where nature is ever-present. We are immersed in a slow-paced atmosphere amidst the landscapes
