Skol / Innovation Youth collaboration
Skol is proud to collaborate with Innovation Youth, an organization whose mandate is to offer a community space for youth and families living in or frequently visiting downtown, opening up the possibilities of integration into academic, family, and social life.
Skol participates to this mandate by presenting art workshops, given by a Skol member and based on the artist’s process.
Workshop description
Over the course of eight weeks, 15 students between the ages of 17-24 came together in order to discover their own poetic voices while expressing their relationship to the district of Peter-McGill. Beginning in September, coached by Montreal poet Sara Dignard, the students walked the streets and the allies of the neighbourhood, exploring the commercial as much as the residential, while reflecting on finding “home” in public space. Gleaning words, memories and snapshots, they birthed poems, like havens in the city, found somewhere between fleeting and abiding.
A workshop created by the poet Sara Dignard, as part of The Story of My Neighbourhood project, in collaboration with Innovation Jeunes.
