Denis Lessard: Letter Athlete

Videos and documents

November 15 – December 15, 2018

Project Description

In Letter Athlete, Denis Lessard retraces the numerous ramifications of two archival documents in his possession during the creation of approximately thirty short videos in conversation with Michel Belisle, videos made following discussions with friends, family, artist colleagues, cultural workers and archivists. In this video series, Lessard and Belisle touch on a certain famous American author with roots in Québec, family memories, translation, newspaper clippings, and a trip to Massachusets…

In Letter Athlete, viewers are invited to follow the pair’s meandering reflections on authenticity, the value of documents, literature and language through the videos, and then draw their own conclusions and interpretations from the pieces of evidence displayed on the gallery wall!

Webcast on the ArchAPo site, as of December 16, 2018.
