MEMBER’S WEDNESDAY: POTLUCK: PARLE-MOI DE TA PRATIQUE

Member’s meeting

October 25th, 2017

5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. — potluck et discussion
7 p.m. —  documentary La couronne cherche-t-elle à nous faire la guerre?, Alanis Obomsawin

The goal of Member’s Wednesday is to offer a moment where all members can discuss their art practice, and to make Skol a collective and joyful experience.

For this second edition, you are invited to take part in a discussion about your practice and then to enjoy Skol’s programming with the documentary La couronne cherche-t-elle à nous faire la guerre? by Alanis Obomsawin at 7 p.m.

This convivial evening will take the form of a potluck, where members are invited to bring snacks. This will also be an opportunity to have an informal discussion about one’s practice, project and/or to seek the advice your peers.

7 p.m.: La couronne cherche-t-elle à nous faire la guerre? (Is the crown at war with us?) (2002, 1h36 min. English-French with French subtitles)

“It was the summer of 2000 and the country watched with disbelief as federal fishery officers appeared to wage war on the Mi’gmaq fishermen of Esgenoopetitj, or Burnt Church, New Brunswick. Why would officials of the Canadian government attack citizens for exercising rights that had been affirmed by the highest court in the land?”

Looking forward to see you all!
