NUIT BLANCHE AT SKOl !

This year, Skol welcomes you again during the la Nuit blanche! Starting to the 7 p.m., don’t miss the projection of 2 short films: 6 minutes/km (FR, LSQ) by atikamekw artist Catherine Boivin and In the Valley of the Moon (EN, FR, LSQ), by california based artist Elise Rasmussen.  Following the footsteps of her Atikamekw ancestors, Catherine immerses us in the dreamlike universe of her morning runs. In Chile’s Atacama Desert, In the Valley of the Moon investigates the paradoxes of scientific developments and ecological innovations. 

Afterwards, the evening will unfold in an exhibition regrouping five professional artists presenting works of sculpture, video, print and painting.

Cultural mediators will be present to answer your questions and discuss the art with you. An LSQ interpreter as well as a Deaf cultural mediator will make the event accessible to the Deaf community.

Wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be sold at the bar.

The artists of this exhibition are developing their practice based on archives, residues, and raw material. Their approach is similar to scientific research regarding the way they reuse, document and investigate their materials. Subject to a study between analysis and contemplation, this material then reveals hidden aspects of our relationship to the world. Both critical of the modernist notion of progress and engaged in scientific research, the artists gathered here are tracing incongruous paths to the encounter of the elements, residues and ruins that are composing the landscape.
