About the artist:

Flora Nwakobi (they/them) is an audacious multi-hyphenate who shapeshifts between being a writer, director, painter, death doula, yoga teacher, & abolitionist. Dancing between these practices informs their filmmaking, which engages the absurd realities of existence through the lens of a Queer Nigerian-Indian person in the West. They seek to subvert the dominant gaze through their art, prioritizing Queer and ancestral perspectives that explore pathways toward personal and collective liberation. Grounded in Indigenous knowledge, Flora’s work amplifies the lived experiences of society’s most vulnerable communities while creating expansive, imaginative worlds that reframe what is possible.
