Journée Paroles et Manœuvres

In the spirit of exchange and reflection, Skol invites the public to participate in Journées Paroles et Manœuvres. A cross-disciplinary meeting of interventions, conferences, performances and discussions, this event aims to inverse roles, to encourage collaboration between different types of expertise and to support hybrid forms of communication. Journées Paroles et Manœuvres is an opportunity to take time, together, through various forms and ideas.

Ti-pop le Québec

A day-long program that focuses on the history of resistance and of art in Québec. An appreciation of past political struggles to better welcome change and transformation.

(Original version in French)

“What is Ti-Pop? Well, ‘Ti’ is Québécois, as in ‘Chez Ti-Jean Snack Bar’ (Lil’ Jean’s Snack Bar), Ti-Lou Antiques (Lil’ Lou’s Antiques), or simply as in ‘Allô, ti-cul’ (Hi, lil’ guy). And ‘Pop’ is Pop Art. But it’s not just about art. It’s more about a culture, our long-standing culture, which should be called ‘Ti-Pop Culture’. Ti-Pop is an attitude. Fundamentally, it’s about conferring aesthetic value on objects from Ti-Pop culture. Do you get it?”

– Pierre Maheu, founder and main theorizer of the Ti-Pop movement, 1966.
