SKOOL 2016 – The Garden : An installative laboratory of objects and materials for reflection

Summer Research Residency

June 13 — July 22, 2016

Gabrielle Desrosiers & Timothy Schauer

By transforming Skol into an exploration and learning venue, the program SKOOL provides resources for two students, who will be able to experiment with different forms of organization and programming, with the support of the centre’s team and a mentor. For 6 weeks, in a studio context, they will develop a research project, taking charge of the communications and events. This summer, the artists Gabrielle Desrosiers & Timothy Schauer have been selected to work on their project The Garden: An installative laboratory of objects and materials for reflection.

SKOOL 2016, The Garden: An installative laboratory of objects and materials for reflection

The Garden is a research laboratory, which materializes within the space as an ever-evolving installation. Through a process of collection and codification of objects, this project explores the notion of existence with its various tangible and intangible realities. The objects and materials are selected and presented in an intuitive, humoristic and poignant manner. The Garden evolves through questions, answers and interventions. The public is invited to stroll through and to experiment it in the three workshops that will be offered, each visit suggesting a different experience. « If art creates a particular exchange, sometimes difficult to describe, is it possible that this feeling is akin to a spiritual experience? Does the object’s memory transcend its materiality? » – Gabrielle Desrosiers & Timothy Schauer

Schedule

The Garden will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 1pm to 5pm, or by appointment via info@gabrielledesrosiers.com.
Additional opening hours will be announced daily, on the Facebook page of SKOOL
